He received a Masters in Computer Law at Madrid's Complutense University. He is a lawyer at the Office of New Technologies in Information and Telecommunication. Over the last few years he has been working as a Consultant on the drafting of the E-Commerce Law for Ecuador, at the Inter-American Development Bank as well as at the Instituto Ecuatoriano de Propiedad Intelectual. He served as the President of the Asociación Ecuatoriana de Derecho Informático (Ecuadorian Association of Computer Law) and has taught E-commerce law at the Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar.
